We got news yesterday that the boat we line-handled for in the Panama Canal had dismasted on their way to Nuku Hiva. Yikes. Apparently they rigged something up and sailed in, very slowly.
We are not sailing slowly right now. But we’re still downwind and downwave, so it’s comfortable enough to experiment with roasting squash in our thirty-year-old oven. Two plus hours, because the temperature just doesn’t go very high. The blueberry muffins were more successful. For being three weeks at sea, we’re eating pretty well!
In animal news, dolphins made a very brief appearance again yesterday. The flying fish decorating our deck the past few mornings have been tiny and numerous. And Captain continues his patient but fruitless mission to train us to open the treat container and step away.
799 miles left on the rhumb line.
